Our Theory of Change
At MagnifyED, we aim to strengthen literacy to foster learning. We work alongside districts and schools to identify student's literacy needs and create a tailored plan to get the most out of their existing curriculum, instruction, and assessment, and build capacity of their staff. We use an inquiry process to engage staff in the learning.
Check out an example of how we improved literacy practices and what it looks like in practice.
We want students who
Learn by:
-
Interpreting information from texts and multimedia
-
communicating their learning or message with others
-
building ownership and confidence
Therefore we need
curriculum, instruction, and assessment
that
Support studentsby:
-
Including higher order thinking activities tied to an essential question
-
Making higher order thinking accessible by spiraling literacy routines
-
Differentiating feedback and grouping strategies
-
Building opportunities to work collaboratively
Which means we need
leaders who
Lead change by:
-
Identifying the need and setting a vision
-
Fostering a culture of inquiry and celebration
-
Providing models and feedback
To truly understand what students are learning from the curriculum, we need to explore what students are saying, writing, and producing.
Our Support
Our inquiry cycle is designed to help schools and districts improve literacy outcomes. By following our process, you can identify areas for improvement and develop effective strategies to address them.

Who we Serve
We work with states and districts who serve students with a wide range of literacy needs. We aim to promote literacy strategies that support all students: newcomers, long term English language learners, students behind grade level, and students who are on or above grade level.
We work with different types of team configurations depending on the goals. Teams of stakeholders will work together to:
-
capitalize on areas of strength to support change management and scaling up of efforts.
-
identify strategies for addressing gaps in the existing system.
